King's / Pearl Service Reticulated Basket

This is a superb reticulated oval basket made by Nymphenburg in the early 20th century. It is one from the King's or Pearl service made for the electoral court around 1792-1795 designed originally by Dominikus Auliczek. The original set is still in the possession of the family and thus any pieces of this design are later copies. It is not often you see one of these baskets as they are very intricate and fragile. The piece is hand painted with five scenes of different views on it. Three to the inside including the most desirable center scene of Schloss Nymphenburg and two more scenes to the outside. The sides are reticulated and are highlighted with gold and blue lines, the blue 'pearls' on the top edge are a nice touch as well and the reason for their name Pearl Service aka King's Service. The basket is 12 sided and the black scenes are surrounded by a superb gold and blue trim. The piece is 1.875 inches tall, 6.375 inches wide and 5.125 inches deep. It is marked with the under glaze shield mark with the word Nymphenburg underneath, an impressed shield mark as well as the usual impressed and black numbers as shown. The title of the scene is written in German in black - Schloss Nymphenburg which means castle Nymphenburg. Also an above glaze black shield mark under a crown with Royal above and Nymphenburg below plus Bavaria below that. Meant for export. Not a mark one sees very often. The basket is in perfect condition! A couple of dirt marks I noticed after taking the pictures but I cleaned them off. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $999
