Pair of Pearl Service Scenic Vases

This is a fun pair of vases made by Nymphenburg in the early 20th century. They are from the King's or Pearl service made for the electoral court around 1792 - 1795 designed originally by Dominikus Auliczek. Each vase is hand painted with two scenes each in black - one to the front and one to the back. These scenes are surrounded by a superb gold and blue trim with more eleborate trim designs to the top and bottom. The top inside has the blue "perls" as does part of the design on the lower part. This is what the service got its name from. Each vase is 5.75 inches tall and 5.625 inches in diameter at the top. They are marked with the green shield mark with the word Nymphenburg underneath as well as an impressed shield mark and the numbers 833 over 1. The pair displays superbly together with one being in perfect condition and one having a thin flat chip to the top which was restored as shown. Does not show frm the underside and barely from the edge. It is a very small chip. The views are named under each vase - there is Bei Dachau (near Dachau) and Schloss Hornberg - castle Hornberg near the river Neckar one one vase and Im Hofgarten (in the Court Gardens) and Bei Fuerstenried which is nowadays part of the city of Munich on the other vase. Both are signed by the artist O.L. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
