Orange Ground Art Nouveau Cup & Saucer

This is a really nice demitasse cup and saucer made by Nymphenburg in the late 19th century. Can be used for mocha or espresso coffee or just for show :) The set is hand painted with an orange ground color that has a fade design along the rim, some gilding along the edge and this amazing purple and blue Iris flower with green leaves. A stunning design that one does not come across very often at all! The plates are a bit more easily found but theya re rare as well. I just love this little set! The cup is 2.25 inches tall and 2.125 inches in diameter. The saucer is 0.875 inches tall and 4.625 inches in diameter. Both pieces are in superb condition with some very minor wear to the gilding. They are marked underneath with the rare under glaze blue shield mark as shown with the mark under the saucer having the word Nymphenburg underneath. Also the Gesetzlich Geschuetzt stamp in red, some impressed numbers and red letters and numbers as shown. A rare early piece for this style. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $749
