Ludwigsburg Replacement Pot

This is a really intersting and unusual coffee pot with its lid made by Nymphenburg around 1765 . If you jsut looked at it quickly you would say it is a Ludwigsburg piece but once you look closer you realize something is not right. The handle is a shape I have not seen on 18th century Ludwigsburg and the fruit finial has different leaves adn too thick a stem. If it wasn't makred I would have never guessed it was made by Nymphenburg either but it has their impressed shield mark to the underside - either RS2 or RS3 I believe but the peice is definitely no later than 1770. I am assuming it was made as a replacement piece to a Ludwigsburg pot or one of the artist came from Ludwigsburg to Nymphenburg and tried to do the same style but it didn't take. Either way a very unusual piece! The pot has two superb floral arrangements to it as well as lots of single flowers scattered about. Nice fruit finial to the lid and the typical reddish brown trim to the edges. The flower painting is of really nice quality! The pot is marked with the impressed shield mark as well as an impressed number 2 as shown. The piece is in great condition but it does have a small chip to the edge of the lid, aan even smaller painted over chip to the top edge of the pot and a small chip to the enderside edge that barely shows when on display and looks to be from when it was made. The piece displays perfectly! The pot with the lid in place is 9.125 inches tall, 5.5 inches from handle to spout and 4.5 inches wide. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
