Atlas Motif Large Plate

This is a second superb plate made by Nymphenburg in about 1770. It is handpainted with the rare and famous Atlas design which was inspired by a woven textile pattern of the time. This is a very rare find especially from the original period and highly sought after by collectors. I was lucky to find a few of them which was quite exciting for me :) This plate is the medium size one of the three and is a wopping 12 inches in diameter and 1.875 inches tall. Quite large for the 18th century! The plate is marked with the impressed shield mark underneath, an incised 4, two impressed dots into the footring - likely a Bossierer mark and a brown paint spot that all three plates have so probably a painters sign. The plate is in great condition with very faint star hairline in the center that you truly have to look for on top to even find so not an issue on display. There is also some black bubbling to the glaze on the underside and around the center bowl of the top mostly. Really a neat pattern that looks much more modern than it is. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
