Lidded Tea Pot

This is a superb teapot with its original lid made by Nymphenburg in the 18th century. Quite rare to find a tea pot and I was excited to ahve a lid even though it is not perfect. The main body is hand painted with two nice floral arrangements - one to the front and one on the backside as well as three small single flowers. It has a nicely shaped handle with some relief decoration to it and the spout is in the shape of an animal head which is always superb. The lid has a nice finial to it, a relief ring around the edge and two small hand painted flowers on top. The underside of the pot is marked with the impressed shield mark as well as an incised 70 as shown. The teapot is in great condition with a chip to the inside of the spout opening as well as two short stable hairlines to the front top of the spout as shown and a flaw to the bottom edge from when it was made. The lid sadly has been broken in two which was simply glued back together as well as a small rim chip. Could easily be brought back to perfection if one would want and it would not cost much to do so. The pot is 3.8755 inches tall, 6.5 inches from handle to spout and 3.75 inches in diameter.
