Early Winter Bust

This is a rare bust / figurine made by Franz Anton Bustelli in Nymphenburg in 1760. I was first modeled during this time and looking at the larger hole underneath it is from this original period. Quite likely it was actually touched / made by Bustelli himself! Not something you come across ever really anymore! The bust is part of the four seasons with this one modelled last and thus a bit smaller than the other three. It is of an old man dressed warmly with a muff in front of him. Long beard and a nice hat all on a fairly simple base with a nice design to the front including the shield mark in the center. The modelling by Bustelli is unbeatable and to have an 18th century figure is quite rare these days! The figure is also marked with an impressed number 2 underneath as shown. The piece is about 5.5 inches tall with the base having a diameter of 3.25 inches. The figurine is In decent condition with a large chip restored in the back of the base which has yellowed over time and could be done better. A large firing crack going up the left side onto his back from when it was made as well as two smaller firing cracks. These issues are very typical of their earliest pieces! Amazingly the bow over the mudd is stll in great shape with just one loop damaged. From the front this peice displays amazingly! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1999
