Set of 6 Floral/Birdscene Plates

This is a really superb set of six plates made by Nymphenburg just after the move from Neudeck in about 1765. Each plate has a rim relief design in the style of the Alt Brandenstein pattern with four hand painted bird scenes in the open areas. The bird scenes are surrounded by small flowers to either side with one plate having green and gold flowers while all the other plate having pink and gold flowers. The larger area has a green and gold crossed line design to all plates with a gold trim to the edge. The center well of each plate has a superb hand painted flower bouquet of amazing quality with lots of different flowers and leaves. Some smaller flowers scattered around the main arrangement. The flowers in the center are among the nicest I have seen by them and the bird scenes are of top quality as well. Each plate is stunning but to have a set of six is just amazing! What is more amazing is that they are all in great condition with some almost perfect while others have a bit of wear to the gold trim - mostly to that on the very edge, an occasional scratch and an occasional chip to the foot ring but no other isses at all. As good as you will ever find! The plates are marked with an impressed shield mark near the foot ring as well as the number 74 impressed or incised as shown. The plates are about 1.25 inches tall and 9.25 inches in diameter with some small differences in size from plate to plate as one would expect from pieces this old.
