1760 Neptune Figurine

This is a rare figurine made by Franz Anton Bustelli in Nymphenburg in 1760 or possibly a touch earlier. I was first modeled during this time and looking at the larger hole underneath it is from this original period. Quite likely it was actually touched by the famous Bustelli himself which is super cool! Not something you come across ever really anymore! The figure is of the god Neptune and it is superbly modeled with lots of detail to it. He is holding a rudder in his left hand and an amazing fish in his right hand that covers his private section with its tail. There are some reeds to the back and a seashell or something along those lines on the base. It's a great looking piece! Amazingly the figure is in as good a condition as you will ever find with just the very tip of the handle in his hand broken off the top. Not obvious since it is flush with the hand. The modelling by Bustelli is unbeatable and to have an 18th century figure is quite rare these days! The figure is marked with an impressed shield mark to the rudder and a number or monogram to the underside as shown. The piece is 4 inches tall, 2.25 inches wide and 2.75 inches deep.
