Feathers Design Vase

This is a superb vase made by Minton in 1877 if I read the date code corectly. A nicely shaped vase with an unsual decoration that looks stunning. The vase is nicely modeled with two handles towards the top and a small reticulated collar in between the handles. Nice base with a leaf design in relief at the base of the circular base with the square base part below that. Lots of ncie gold trim to all these parts. The best piece however is by far that amazing feather design. The feathers are scattered alla round the main body. Different sizes and different shapes and colors. Amazingly the feathers are all hand painted not partially printed! They look absolutely stunning! The main design on each side is two feathers crossed over each other with the rest of the feathers being single ones. The vase is in great condition with a touch of minor wear to the gilding along the top edge, some very fine crazing to the base, a small spot of unglazed area above the crossed feather on one side (not the peacock feather side), some minor firing spots and two stained short hairlines to the bottom part of the main body and another near one of the handles. All three are stable and do not affect the piece at all. The vase displays perfectly and nis incredible to look at! It stands is 10.125 inches tall and has a diameter of about 4.5 inches. The underside of the base is marked with the impressed Minton mark as well as an impressed number and the date code of a square in a circle for 1877. A bit hard to see but they are there once you shine a light through the porcelain. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
