Amazing Pate Sur Pate Plate #2

This is a really superb plate made by Mintons in the early 20th century - 1902 if I read the date code correctly. The rim of the plate is nicely reticulated with lots of gold highlights to it. Sort of a fan shaped design with a wave and seashell design below that. Quite detailed and with the cut out sections plus relief and gold details quite a superb look! The edge of the well has a gold ziczac and dot design to it but off course the best part is the central pate sur pate design. It has a circular panel of a reddish ground color with the white pate-sur-pate angel / cherub over that. The angel has a flowing cloth around it and is holding a large bouqet of flowers in front of it. The quality of the pate sur pate design is superb! There is a fancy gold trim around the scene with raised details to it. As nice a plate as they come! The pate-sur-pate scene was painted by Albion Birks, a student of the famous Marc Louis Solon . It is faintly signed AB under the bottom of the lower right flower. The plate is of a nice size being 0.875 inches tall and 9 inches in diameter. It is in perfect condition! It is marked underneath with impressed Mintons as well as their typical date cyphers - in this case a number 2 in a circle plus a gold N.P 1226 and tent mark in gold. It also has the gold globe with Mintons in the center and the crown above plus the retailers mark for Gilman Collamore & Co New York. Fifth Avenue and 30th street. They were rivals to Tiffany & Co..
