Fruit Scene Tazza / Pedestal Cake Plate

This is a great little cake plate / compote / pedestal dish / tazza made by Meissen in the mid 19th century. I bought the piece because itis nicely painted with a fruit design and it is marked with the rare impressed letters K.S.P.M. which stands for Königlich Sächsische Porzellan-Manufaktur (Royal Saxon Porcelain Manufactory). The top plate part has a hand painted with a nice fruit scene in the typical manner of the mid 19th century, There is a plum and apricot scene with their stems and leaves as well as a thin gold ring around the edge of the well and a gold trim to the nicely shaped edge. The pedestal has three fruit designs hand painted on it including strawberries, plums and some sort of yellow fruit all with their leaves and stems. Some thin gold rings in some spots and a thicker gold trim to the bottom edge. The dish displays very nicely but there are some darks manufacturing flaws to the very bottom edge of the base from when it was made, a manufacturing flaw to the underside of the plate partwhere there was an impurity to the paste and a ground down spot on the outer foot ring of the plate where there must have been a small chip. The gold trim runs over some of that part so it was also done when made. A bit odd but on some of their earlier ware during certain periods theyw ere not quite as picky as during more mdoern times. Both pieces are marked with the under glaze blue crossed sowrds mark (first choice on the base and you can't fully see the mark of the plate part. Both are marked with the rare impressed letters K.S.P.M. as shown as well as Meissen. An unusual mark one rarely ever sees so I thought it would be a nice example to show. The plate part has a diameter of 8 inches and the entire dish is 4.875 inches tall. The foot is about 4 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
