Really Nice Floral & Relief Design Cup

This is a really nice cup and saucer made by Meissen in the later 19th century. The set is hand painted with a really nice floral arrangement on pink ground - one the cup is is made to look like an attached medallion with relief detail highlighted in gilding while is is painted flat on the saucer with the gilding meant to look the same. The best part and most unusual is the white relief design surrounded by a brown ground color along the rims of the pieces. These are often referred to being pate sur pate but they are not. There are lots of different designs to that part - a bust of a lady, some sort of strange animal hybrid like a griffin type critter and two other designs. That chocolate brown color looks amazing! Nice handle to the cup with some gilding to it as well and a floral arrangement to the bottom inside of the cup. All in all a rare design that looks stunning! The set is in great condition with a chip to the foot ring of the saucer as shown. Both are marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark underneath as shown. The cup is 2.875 inches tall and 3.25 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
