Rare & Amazing Earrings

This is a very rare set of earrings made by Meissen in the 19th century. The center of each one has an oval porcelain medallion that is hand painted with that superb cobalt blue ground color with some fancy gilding and a really nice polychrome floral arrangement on white ground in the center. The porcelain piece is mounted in 12K gold filled mounts with a nice design to the sides. These are the old school screw on earrings which is really neat. You can wear them even if your ears are not pierced! The porcelain piece is not visibly marked underneath since it is hidden by the mounts. You can see a touch of the tips of the swords in one of them. No question as to who made them looking at the porcelain! The mounts are marked at the top of the screw as shown - 12K Gold Filled and 20V or W. Each ear ring is just over 0.5 inches wide, just under 0.75 inches tall and the entire contraption is 0.625 inches deep. The part that shows is just over 0.125 inches thick. The pair is in great condition with a little wear to the gold trim as shown. Slight oxidation to the metal. They display very well and look super elegant. I have rarely ever seen a set like it and never a cobalt blue version so it is a special for sure. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
