Masonic Ornament w/ Plaque

This is a really interesting piece. It is a masonic emblem with a little porcelain plaque in the center made by Meissen in the mid 19th century. The piece came from the Loge zur Akazie im Orient located in the city of Meissen. The porcelain plaque has a hand painted arcacia tree on it which is superb. This tree was their symbol and is well known to be associated with the freemasons . And since this lodge is located in Meissen it only makes sense to ahve a piece of Meissen porcelain for their use :) The little plaque has a small brass or bronze mount around the edge and back which is conencted to the brass or bronze triangle. This has a little loop to the back top part which has a silk string and bow connected to it in order to be able to hang it on the wall. This was probably a nice blue at some point but has faded and is slightly worn and stained from age. The metal has oxidized a bit as well and could use a polishing but I won't do that. The plaque is perfect! The markings on the back of the metal are incised 23. Februar 1847. Nice way to date the piece. The porcelain plaque is likely marked in the back with the crossed swords but I won't try to pry it out. Quality matches this maker so I have no doubt it was made by them. Fun piece with a nice provenance and an interesting conenction to the freemason group. The piece is 2.875 inches in each side of the triangle, the bow is 2.75 inches wide and adds about 1.125 inches in height. The porcelain plaque is just over 1 inch wide and just under 1.375 inches tall. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
