Epergne or Serving Dish

This is a piece made by Meissen in the late 19th or early 20th century. I bought it being described as an epergne but that is usually for flowers so I think it is more of an etagere or tiered serving dish . Either way it is a really nice piece made up of a base pedestal, then a reticulated plate with a piece on top that is flared. I'd say it would be awesome for strawberries with the chocolate in the top part so you can dip them yourself :) Anything that needs a sauce would work as well. Little bites :) The entire piece is decorated with hand painted flowers - three larger arrangements along the edge of the plate usrrounded by a relief design and gold trim and lots of single flowers in the well of the plate. The base and top part have flower garlands going up the pieces as well as small single flowers and lots of gold trim. A great looking piece! The dish is in perfect condition which is always a plus! The entire piece is about 9.75 inches tall and the plate has a diameter of about 8.125 inches. The base is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark (1st choice) as well as the usual impressed numbers as shown. The plate also has impressed numbers but the crossed swords mark is hidden by the base piece. A stunning and useful piece that you won't find again anytime soon.
