Watteau Scene Box

This is a superb little box made by Meissen in the later 19th century. It is handpainted with a superb scene on the lid of the city of Dresden including the Frauenkirche - Church of Our Lady , the Hofkirche - The Catholic Church of the Royal Court of Saxony and off course the Augustusbrücke as well as some boats and a nice landscape. The paitning is of superb quality! The scene is surrounded by some fancy gilding with the rest of the lid and bottom part having a cobalt blue ground color with lots of fancy gilding over that. An amazing piece for sure! The lidded dish is in great condition with a touch of wear to the gilding - only around the top part of the scene. The bottom part is marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark (first quality) underneath as shown and the inside lid has the name of the view - Dresden - in black. The box is 2.5 inches tall and 3.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
