Black Man Bottle Stopper

This is a rare figural bottle stopper made by Meissen during the mid to late 19th century. It is in the form of a black / colored gentleman that is nicely modeled with a very dark skin tone and black curly hair with the eyes and red lips nicely done. He is wearing a white collar. A superb example and not a model I have ever come across s definitely rare! There are a few different models of these stopers out there and they are all great. The porcelain head is connected to a cork which is still the original one! The cork has a decorative metal ring to the top that is probably brass and coul use a polish. It is held together by a thin metal rod with a plate on the bottom to hold the cork. The cork looks original and was definitely used. It is very dry but looks nice. The porcelain head is in great condition but there is a small chip to the collar edge as shown which is not obvious at all due to the creases in the shirt. The piece displays perfectly! The stopper is marked underneath but the cork won't budge much to show the whole thing and I don't want to pry it. Definitely made by them during this era! The entire piece is 3.375 inches tall. The cork is 1.75 inches long and 0.75 inches in diameter. The head is 1.5 inches tall and an 1 inch wide. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
