Bald Man Bottle Stopper

This is a rare figural bottle stopper made by Meissen during the mid to late 19th century. It is in the form of a bald gentleman with hair around the sides and back. He is wearing a pink shirt with a light blue collar. The piece is nicely modeled and hand painted perfectly. A superb example of one of these stoppers! There are a few different models of these stoppers out there and they are all great. I have quite a few of them for sale on the site now. The porcelain head is connected to a cork which is still the original one! The cork has a decorative metal ring to the top that is probably brass and could use a polish. It is held together by a thin metal rod with a plate on the bottom to hold the cork. The cork looks original and was definitely used. It is very dry but looks nice. The porcelain head is in perfect condition! The stopper is marked underneath as shown which is possible since the cork does slide down so the connection to the bottom plate that hold the cork in must be lost. The entire piece is 3.625 inches tall. The cork is 2 inches long and 0.75 inches in diameter. The head is 1.625 inches tall and 1.25 inches wide.
