Apple Picking Figurine

This is a really nice figurine of a family picking apples made by Meissen in the late 19th century. A model one sees often but the examples are either very damaged or quite new so having an older example in pretty good condition is nice! Originally this figure was modeled in 1751 by Kaendler with the help of Meyer it depicts a young lady and three boys picking the apples off the tree. The lady is nicely dressed and holding up her apron to catch the fruit. One boy is sitting on the base by her feeet with the knife in his hand and a cut open apple in his other hand. There is another boy standing by the ladder with his hat filled with apples and the last boy is up on the ladder taking the apples of the tree and tossing them down. The tree is the center piece of this figurine. The entire piece is nicely modeled and hand painted with lots of details. A really nice looking figurine! The piece displays superbly with the toes of the sitting boy's foot missing. That is the only damage to the figures. The tree off course has some damage - the tip of a branch is missing and another is reglued plus some leaves are dmaged and missing and some leaves have been restored. But it's not bad at all compared to most one comes across and the piece really displays nicely! The figurine is 10 inches tall with the base being around 4 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the crossed swords mark (first choice) as well as the usual impressed / incised marks and a painter's mark as shown.
