Cobalt Ground & Watteau Scene Tea Set for 8

This is a very rare and superb tea set for eight made by Meissen in the later 19th century. The set consists of a teapot, a sugar dish, a creamer, eight cups and saucer and eight reticulated plates. Looks amazing when on display I it has found a good spot in our dining room cabinet :) Each saucer is hand painted with panels of superb floral arrangements on white ground surrounded by some fancy gold trim. Each cup has an amazing Watteau style scene on white ground to the front surrounded by the same gold trim. Each plate is hand painted with a top notch scene in the center of a couple in a landscape surrounding with some nice gold trim around it. The edge has three panels of floral arrangements on white ground to it with the rest of the plate having a cobalt blue ground color - even the reticulated area which is uncommon. Superb gilding to the reticulated as well. The tea pot has a Watteau scene to one side and a floral arrangement to the other as does the creamer and the sugar dish. The lid of the sugar dish has two floral panels to it. The finials are very detailed roses with petals, a stem as well as leaves. The rest of the set has a deep cobalt blue ground color and some more fancy gold trim all over. The outside rim of the saucers and inside rim of the cup also have a gold trim to it as shown as does the footring. There is a nice design to the center of the saucer and the inside bottom of the cup. The spout and handle of the teapot are nicely gilded as well - meant to simulate a tree branch. A truly amazing and elegant set and not something you'll find again easily if at all! All the pieces are in perfect condition except for some very minor issues to the petals of the finials. Amazing given the age and fragile nature of this set. All pieces (except the lids) are marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath as well as the usual impressed numbers of the period and some painter's marks as shown. Each plate is about 1.25 inches tall and 8 inches in diameter. The saucers are about 1.25 inches tall and 5.25 inches in diameter and the cups 2.5 inches tall and has a diameter of 3.25 inches. The sugar dish is 4.375 inches tall and has a diameter of 4.625 inches. The creamer is 5.25 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter so they are the large version and the teapot is large as well being 5.75 inches tall, 9.25 inches from handle to spout and 5.5 inches in diameter! Just a stunning set! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
