Letter S Teapot

This is a teapot made by KPM in the late 18th century. KPM used no painters mark like the red orb yet during this period thus you only have the blue scepter and impressed marks most of the time. It is handpainted with the letter S made up of puce leaves on both sides as well as some small polychrome flowers and puce trim to the spout and handle. Nice floral finial to the lid. The pot is in great condition with some damage to the floral finial (stem was reattached, small chipping to petals of the finial and a flake to the green of one leaf), and a tiny chip to the teapot rim where the lid goes - the size of a needle tip so really tiny. An odd flaw where the top of the handle attached to the main body - looks like it was trying to come off on its own due to stress but didn't. The teapot is 4.25 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter with a blue line above and an impressed number 10. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
