Superb Lidded Cup & Saucer

This is a truly superb lidded cup and saucer made by KPM around 1780. KPM used no painters mark like the red orb yet during this period thus you only have the blue scepter and impressed marks most of the time. The cup is hand painted with a monogram of the letter S held up by two angels all with lots of amazing detail. Two small flower arrangements to the sides of the cup and a intertwined branches type handle. The angels are superb but the puce (a rather dark version of it) and gold trim design is the icing on the cake! I think this is KPM's most expensive rim decor and it is rarely seen. The saucer has the same trim and three floral arrangements plus in the center it has a scene of two burning hearts on a stone pillar with a bow and quiver lying in front of it all in a landscape surrounding. Obviously this was given as a gift to a loved one. And then we have the lid which one rarely ever sees since they usually get lost. Same trim plus a large floral design and two small flowers with a flower finial that is top notch! The set is in great condition. The saucer is perfect as is the cup but the lid has a tiny flake chip to the underside edge which cannot be seen unless you look for it and a larger chip that is super thin to the top edge that either never totally came off or has been perfectly glued in again. Almost impossible to find and the set displays perfectly. The cup is 2.5 inches tall and 2.75 inches in diameter. The lid adds about 1.25 inches in height and is 3 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.25 inches tall and 5.25 inches in diameter. Both the saucer and cup are marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter with all three pieces having a puce number 1. underneath them as shown.
