Brown Ground Cup & Saucer

This is a cup and saucer made by KPM in the 18th century. Very reminiscent of the Meissen cups in this style and not something you see often by them at all. KPM used no painters mark like the red orb yet during this period thus you only have the blue scepter and impressed marks most of the time and in this case a blue painter's mark on each. Both the cup and saucer have a hand painted under glaze blue design to them with a blue trim to the inside rim plus the brown ground to the outside / underside and the handle. The cup is in super condition with just three black firing spots to the inside from the making but the saucer has some damage to the rim, a glaze line (not a hairline!) and some staining. All in all they display superbly together and are not something you can easily find again. The cup is 1.875 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.25 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. Both are marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter as well as some impressed numbers and a blue painter's mark as shown. Price is $599
