Bird Scene Round Tureen

This is an amazing tureen made by KPM around 1780. It is the nicest one I have owned or even have seen by them from this period. The bottom part has two superb and very large (covering the entire sides) handpainted bird scenes on it, two very detailed handles, four very detailed butterflies and the rim has a nice raised design highlighted by gilding which finishes off the perfect look! The lid also has two very large bird scenes on it, the same type of handle on top, 4 butterflies and the gild design to the rim. The quality is top notch and it is in as perfect a condition as one would hope for - the only small flaw is that there is a spot on the rim of the lid that must have been hit at some point and caused a glaze flaw - nothing ever came off but there are two or three lines in the glaze in that area covering about 0.25 inches by 0.5 inches. It is very minor and not an issue when on display nor otherwise! One firing spot on the inside which is normal. The bottom part is marked underneath with the scepter in underglaze blue and an impressed 23, two impressed lines on the footring and a separate impressed line on the footring. The piece including its lid is 8.5 inches tall, 11.375 inches wide and 9.25 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
