1765 Scenic Cup & Saucer

This is a superb cup & saucer made by KPM around 1765. Very rare to find these early pieces by them especially in this condition. KPM used no painters mark like the red orb yet during this period thus you only have the blue scepter and impressed marks most of the time. The set is hand painted with a nice version of the Reliefzierat which referrs to the releif design to the porcelain itself jutting from the rim into the center. It is perfectly designed for this sort of hand painting since it separated the hand painted scenes perfectly,There are four scenes to the saucer depicting people doing different things. Two couples / lovers and two gentlemen doing work. All in nice landscape surroundings. The cup has three scenes to it of a single person doing different things. A gentleman is smoking a pipe, a lady possibly nursing a baby and a lady with a basket by her side. Another landscape only scene below the handle. My favorite part is the superb darker puce line design on lighter pink ground along the edge of the pieces. Gold trim to the top edges as well as handle. The handle has a nice branch shapeto it that terminated in leaves. Just a really great set! And to make it even better there is a nice polychrome floral arrangement to the inside of the cup. The cup & saucer are in superb condition with just a very minor bit of wear to the gold trim but truly as good as they come! There is a seam to the front scene of the cup that might look like a hairline in some of the pics but must be a mold line from when it was made. Not a hairline, crack or anything else bad! The cup is 1.75 inches tall and just over 3.125 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall with a diameter of 5.375 inches. Both are marked underneath with the early under glaze blue scepter mark as well as an impressed 1 or l. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
