Hartford Porcelain Cameo Pendant / Brooch

This is a rare and fun little cameo made by the Hartford Faience Company from Hartford in Connecticut in the early 20th century . It was made into a pin / brooch and pendant combination by mounting it a nice gold frame with a pin as well as a chain attachment. The cameo is very much in the style of black Jasperware from Wedgwood and the likes. It is of two ladies standing on a cloud next to a winged female angel with a bow to her side and an arrow in her hand. I would say it is Amor / cupid but I ahve not seen it represented as a female before. It is of a really nice quality - nicer than other peices I ahve seen / owned by them. The mount appears to be gold but I ahve no way to test it. There is not way it is anything else by the look and feel and quality! The little opening for the necklace up top is neat - it rotates and the piece that holds the pin in does as well so it secures nicely. The tip of the pin sticks out from the frame a bit and I poked myself with it so one has to be more careful. The white design has a nice contrast to the black background! Something a bit different and American porcelain after all is much less common than its European counterparts though I am not sure if this here is considered true porcelain. The plaque is in perfect condition asis the mount. It is 2 inches in diameter with the top loop piece sticking out a bit plus about 0.5 inches thick. It is marked as shown on the reverse with an incised Hartford Porcelain Cameo. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
