Hague Bird Scene Vase

This is a superb lidded vase most likely painted by Royal Dmmer & Cie at Nieuwer Amstel between 1809 and 1814 according to one expert. Another states that there were painters from Lyncker at work in the Amstel manufactory. Although the fact of the under glaze stork with the hanging neck remains. It also appears on a vase from which the model dates from the 1820s, Amstel had closed by that time. So this is still a bit of a mystery! The blank was likely made at Ansbach since it is hard paste. What is odd about the peice is that it has an under glaze blue stork mark instead of the usual over glaze one but I read that since they had an agreement to buy the white wares from them they sometimes painted the mark on them already before firing them. Apparently Dommer used this mark of the stork normally used at Hague and he also used the Amstel marks from the previous Dutch makers plus different color marks for Amstel as well. The factory closed in 1814 and with it the last of the Dutch makers which is a real bummer since they made some superb porcelain! The decoration of this vase is superb! It has a hand painted bird scene to the front and back with a small polychrome floral arrangement to each side. The top has that typical udner glaze blue with gold trim over it design to it with floral swags in between. A bit of gold trim to the top and bottom. The lid has the same trim and swag design to it with a bit of gilding to the edge and knob / finial. The piece is in superb condition with just a small chip to the top of the finial as shown. A minor touch of wear to the gilding but the piece displays perfectly and looks amazing! The piece with the lid in place is 10.375 inch tall and 4.5 inches in diameter.
