Large Lidded Reticulated Vase

This is a large and really neat reticulated lidded vase made by Grainger Worcester in the late 19th century. Thomas Grainger was originally an apprentice at Royal Worcester before forming his own company around 1801. After his death in 1839, his son George took over. Most of the pierced vases, like this one, were mostly made by Alfred Barry. He was their George Owen :) Royal Worcester acquired the Grainger firm in 1889 before this piece was made but ran the two factories in parallel for a while until completely absorbing it. This vase here is from this parallel period. .One sees their reticulated pieces fairly often but one of this size with the added "jewel" decoration and its original lid is certainly something special. I really like this piece! There are four different reticulated designs and separating each design is a line of blue "jewels" with little gold dots. The top design is a ring of flowers left unpainted, Next is a thin ring of painted flowers with its pink blossoms and brown leaves all with gold highlights. Then a section of floral panels separated by columns and the last section is a fern leaf style design. Simple gold trim to the top and bottom edge. The porcelain has an ivory color to it with some parts that are a bit darker than others. The lid has a pink and purple flowers design to it with the rest being ivory colored. Round finial with a bit of gold trim and the same blue "jewels" design right under the finial. It's an amazing piece and surprisingly in superb condition with just some wear to the gold trim along the top and bottom edge. Nothing that takes away from the piece!. The vase is only marked on the lid ring that fits inside the vase and is thus mostly hidden. Marked with the Grainger and Co Worcester mark as well as some numbers in red on the inside of the lid as shown. The piece is 13.25 inches tall and 6.5 inches in diameter.
