Portrait Pipe

This is a pipe likely made by Nymphenburg in the 18th century. Sadly most of the mark is hidden by the lid but hopefully I will be able to get to it one of these days. Either way it is a very high quality portrait on the front of this pipe and very few makers could pull this off. It is of a lady holding a fan in her hand in a nice dress with a white flower in her hair. The pipe is marked by the top rim of the bowl but it's obscured by the lid. It is in super condition for the age with a wear to the gold trim around the picture and a few scratches to the edges of the painting that don't take away from the important parts. The lid has some oxidation which is normal. The bowl is 4.5 inches tall and the top diameter is about 1 inch. It is connected with a chain to a metal clamp on the wooden stem of the pipe. The connector between stem and pipe is made of horn I think and has a crack and a piece filed off. The mouth piece was used so there are some marks. All in all a rare and superb specimen! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $999
