Chinoiserie Teawarmer

This is a very attractive veilleuse or teawarmer made in France in the early 19th century possibly by Jacob Petit. It is handpainted with stylized flowers with an Asian flaire to them on a black ground with two chinoiserie scenes of Chinamen in a landscape surrounding in the center of each side of the main piece. Lots of nice gold trim and 'pearls' along the edges. Truly a very decorative piece to have around! The set is in very good condition with a bit of wear to the gilding a star crack (tight and stable) to the teapot white part, a tight hairline to the top, a tight hairline to the bottom that goes up the side a bit and a small chip to the inside rim hidden when the lid is in place. All in all in as good a shape as one can find and it deisplays perfectly! The candle holder is obviously a modern replacement :) The teapot is marked with an incised L mark typical of Vieux Paris makers of this period. The entire piece is 9.25 inches tall, 5.25 inches wide and 4.25 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
