Priest Figurine

This is a figure of a priest made by Frankenthal between in the 18th century 1759 and 1762. The figurine is superbly modeled and painted in the typical Frankenthal fashion of the period. I ahve not seen this model before nor could I find it in my books but that is nothing all that meanigful since the books are not that complete. Unlike many other makers I don't think they have a really good complete book on the subject. Either way a great figurine that is rare. The priest is wearing long flowing pink robes with white trim and standing on a typical base for the period with scrolls along the edge highlighted with gilding. He is holding a bible in his left hand in front of him. The figure is 5.25 inches tall, 2.625 inches wide and 2.25 inches deep. He is marked underneath with the under glaze blue standing lion as well as the Joseph Adam Hannong monogram plus the usual impressed marks and a possible painter's mark in black. The figurine displays nicely but has some issues. The head was off and was restored back on. Not perfect but it does not show when on display. The right hand has been reglued, I believe the left hand has been worked on as well, the bible possibly, too and I believe the white sash around his waist went down the front of his robe since there are two spots that have been touched up. There is a spot on the left side top of the base that was touched up as well though that looks like it was a firing flaw. Nothing else makes sense there. It all sounds worse than it is and he does display very nicely and is definitely a rare and early example by a great maker! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
