Chinoiserie Flower Pot

This is a superb little pot made by Chantilly in the 1730s. I am pretty sure it is a little flower pot since they made some small ones but I could not find this exact example. It is made of soft paste porcelain with a tin glaze (to make it appear whiter) and their famous and amazing enamel colors. The piece is hand painted in the Japanese Kakiemon palette colors with with a Chinoiserie design including five children doing different things as well as a bird, a grass and some type of item I cannot figure out as shown. The scene goes all around which is nice. Brown trim to the top edge. Sparingly painted but in my view this is the best porcelain ever got. Absolutely amazing to look at. As good as it gets for me. While the piece displays nicely it has been broken in two in the past and reglued. A good restorer could hide it perfectly but I think it is fine the way it is. All in all something very special that one rarely if ever gets to see outside of museums anymore. The pot is 3.5 inches tall with a diameter of 4.25 inches. The piece is unmarked underneath which is common on their early wares. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $999
