Polychrome Kakiemon Pot de Creme

This is a superb pot de creme or pot au jus made by Chantilly around 1735. It is made of soft paste porcelain and painted with a polychrome flower design in the Kakiemon colors and style. Their enamel colors are just stunning! The flowers are superb and there is even a bug on one side and the lid has a nice flower finial. The flowers are after their Japanese originals as are the colors off course. The pot and lid are in great condition with just some issues from the making as is to be expected from these early pieces. Two minor chips to the top edge that are under the glaze, three small spots of staining on the inside near the handle and a couple of tiny black firing specs. The lid has an area where the glaze didn't take right but it is not a repair! All in all about as good a shape as one could hope for. I just love these early soft paste pieces with the Kakiemon colors!!! The cup is not marked underneath but that is not unusual. Definitely from the period and by this maker. The piece is 2.75 inches tall with a diameter of about 2.5 inches at the widest point. A rare find and a real beauty! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
