Polychrome Kakiemon Pot de Creme

This is a superb pot de creme or pot au jus made by Chantilly around 1735. A covered cup for hot chocolate or meat broth . It is made of soft paste porcelain and hand painted with a polychrome flower design in the Kakiemon colors and style. Their enamel colors are just stunning! I think their pieces are among the very best in the porcelain world! The flowers are superb and there is even a bug on the lid which also has a nice flower finial. The flowers are after their Japanese originals as are the colors off course. The pot and lid are in great condition with a crack across the bottom terminal of the handle as shown. A common issue on 18th century pieces like this. The piece displays superbly! I just love these early soft paste pieces with the Kakiemon colors!!! The cup is marked underneath with their red hunting horn. It nice to have a marked example as many are not. The piece is 2.75 inches tall with a diameter of 2.625 inches at the widest point. A rare find and a real beauty! These did not come with saucers! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1499
