Chantilly Knife

This is a very rare knife with the handle made by Chantilly around 1740. It is made of softpaste with a tinglaze covering it and the colors are painted on top of that. The Asian influenced Kakiemon style design is superb. The colors are unlike any other ones I have ever seen on porcelain which is why they are so famous. The design is completely outlined in black which is important for them to be the real deal. The metal blade is marked with an impressed mark but I can't make it out. The knife is amazingly complete with the blade which isn't that common. The handle has suffered a bit but is just super. The blade is in good shape. I recently had the knife spiffed up a bit and the cracks were disguised a bit to make the knife look absolutely amazing. One of my favorite pieces ever! The knife is 9.25 inches long of which the handle is about 4 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1499
