Kakiemon Pitcher

This is an amazing pitcher made by Chantilly around 1730-35. The largest piece I have owned by them an it is stunning. It is made of softpaste porcelain and painted with a polychrome Kakiemon design. The enamel colors are amazing! There is even some nice trim on the handle and along the top edge. The flowers are superb and after their Japanese originals as are the colors off course. The jug is in great condition with some expected wear from age and some firing flaws as shown. There is a hole on top of the handle which is typical and that is where they would have attached a lid to the piece. I don't know if this one ever had one but I have seen them with and without lids. Not that there are many of these around! The piece displays perfectly and is a new favorite of mine! It is marked underneath with the reddish hunting horn mark as shown. The piece is 7.375 inches tall and 4.5 inches in diameter at the widest part. A rare find and a real beauty! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $2499
