Figural Chinoiserie Box

This is a superb snuff / patch / pill box made by Chantilly around 1730. It is made of softpaste porcelain and is in the form of a cute pig lying in some grass and flowers on the lid with an amazing chinoiserie scene on the underside and another on the inside lid. They are not as fancy as some alter versions but it's the simplicity together with the colors that make these so stunning! Chantilly boxes are extremely rare compared to most other makers like St. Cloud or Mennecy. I first thought it was a dog on the lid but the snout and little tail kind of told me I was wrong :) Nice flowers in the Kakiemon colors all around the pig. The mounts are silver which is hallmarked as shown. Not sure as to the maker since I know little about silver marks but it is of the period! The box is in top condition. No wear to the eneamels just some unevenness to the porcelain which must have been from the making. Three stilt marks to the inside lid. Some firing flaws but no repairs, damage, etc. The lid closes but it could be a bit tighter I guess not that it matters. The box is 1.5 inches tall, 2.875 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep. The porcelain is not makred which is the norm! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $4999
