Gilliflower Buttertub Underplate

This is a nice early underplate / stand for an oval buttertub either made by Caughley, Worcester or Lowestoft in the 18th century. I cannot quite figure out which one of them made it as the blue crescent mark is a bit unusual looking and I cannot find many pieces to compare it to. Seems to be a fairly rare item. It is hand painted with the superb under glaze blue Gilliflower / Gilly Flower design in the center, four smaller flowers along the edge and a branch handle to either side with flowers and elaves to the terminals. The flower centers have the hot cross bun design to them attributed to John Toulouse which does not help identify the maker as he like many other workers during this time went all over the place for work. Blue trim to the edge. The dish is really very nice. Looks like a small platter :) The piece is in great condition with a couple of minor chips to the applied flowers as shown. It displays superbly! It is marked with a blue crescent mark as shown. The piece is 1.125 inches tall at the handles, 7.5 inches wide including the handles and 5.125 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $299
