Amstel Large Bowl

This is a bowl made by Oude Amstel in about 1790. Oude Amstel was transferred from the loosdrecht site around 1784. Not much changed really and they soon ran into trouble again and in 1809 they were moved to the Nieuve Amstel site. The bowl is handpainted with a pattern I know was made at Meissen so I am fairly sure it is a replacement peice for a broken piece from someones Meissen service. The piece has lots of puce floral arrangements as well as smaller flowers scattered throughout and some nice gold trim. The bowl is in OK condition but it does have a rather nasty stained hairline that was stabilized using the old repair method of little metal clamps so the rpair in itself is quite old already. The repair is so solid that the bowl rings again when tapped! And from one side the bowl looks just perfect if you display it and is certainly worthy of being loved again. A good learning tool if nothing else! It is marked with the underglaze blue Amstel mark that is quite rare as well as an incised script L 3 over a small circle. The bowl is 3.875 inches tall and 8.625 inches in diameter so a nice size. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
