Amstel Bird Scene Plate #2

This is a plate made by Oude Amstel in about 1790. Oude Amstel was transferred from the Loosdrecht site around 1784. Not much changed afterwards and they soon ran into trouble again and in 1809 they were moved to the Nieuve Amstel site. The plate is nicely handpainted with a large scene in the center of a bird in a landscape surrounding with some kind of obelisk type piece on the left side. Five small scattered cornflowers through the center as well as a cornflower garland around the rim and a gold trim to the edge. The quality of the scene is superb! The plate is in decent condition with three not so well restored chips to the rim and another nibble. There is some wear mainly to the gold trim of the edge of the plate. But all in all a superb and very rare example of a hard to find maker. The plate is marked with the underglaze blue Amstel mark as well as an incised L4, an o and an incised line. It is 10.25 inches in diameter so a nice size. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
