Eagle Shelf #2

This is a superb figural shelf very likely made by an American maker and certainly from the mid to late 19th century. It is very well modeled and of good quality but not what I would expect from an English makers as there are various differences in design from English pieces I have seen. The eagle is just superb and is holding an olive branch in his claws. Certainly a very rare and fun piece plus quite unusual. The piece is in great condition with a chip on the right side of the right back corner as well as a few very minor firing flaws the biggest being on the top surface where there is a line in the paste that resulted from an impurity to the paste. Now to my reasoning why I think it is American. It is unmarked which in this period on English porcelain is not common anymore, the entire piece isn't as perfect as one would expect from a maker that has been around for a long time with the surfaces on top and the back being a bit uneven when put on a flat surface and the holes for hanging are uneven and made by hand. The eagle is very well done much better than most I have seen in porcelain which makes sense as well. So there are my reasons :) As always feel free to chime in! The piece is 7 inches from top to bottom, 6.25 inches deep and 6.75 inches wide. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
