Wedgwood Butterfly Luster Vase

This is a rare and superb lidded vase made by Wedgwood in the early 20th century. These were designed by Daisy Makeig Jones who also came up with the Fairyland Luster which is still a very popular area of porcelain collecting. The lidded vase is often called a Malfrey pot and cover though I am not sure if it jsut the name of the shape or where this name comes from. It is hand painted with very nice version of the Butterfly Luster with the mother of pearl ground color. The gilded and enameled butterflies are amazing! There is a Greek key gold trim to the bottom aedge and the edge of the lid with a different type of gilding to the top of the vase visible when the lid is in place while the top Greek key trim is hidden when the lid is in place. The inside top edge of the vase and inner lid have an orange color and the udnerside lid also has a gold butterfly to it. There is a butterfly on top of the lid as well. The vase has a very nice size being about 9.25 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter. It is in greatt condition with just some crazing to the glaze which is quite typical. It displays perfectly and looks stunning! The vase is marked underneath with the Portland vase mark with three stars underneath, then Wedgwood with a star under it and then England. Also a Z4832 which is the pattern number and an incised 2410 which I think is the shape number plus 10 over P. in red. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
