Wallendorf Lidded Cup & Saucer

This is a rare lidded cup and saucer made by Wallendorf around 1790. Both pieces are handpainted with a nice scenic medallion in the center in shades of grey. The saucer has a lady playing the lyre with a statue on a column behind her. The cup has a gentleman holding a bowl in his left hand a snake is eating from. Nice gold trim to both pieces as well. The handles on the cup and lid are typical for the classical period and one of my favorite shapes. The set is in perfect condition with a tiny bit of wear to the gilding and three unimportant scratches to the scene in the saucer. The saucer is 1 inch tall and 5.25 inches in diameter. The cup is 2.375 inches tall and the same in diameter. The lid is 2.5 inches in diameter and 0.625 inches in height. Both the cup and the saucer are marked with the underglaze blue W mark and the saucer has an H incised near the footring. This is one of the nicest Wallendorf cups I have ever seen! Please email me for more information or photos.
