Wallendorf Puce Scenic Lidded Cup & Saucer

This is a rare lidded cup and saucer set made by Wallendorf in the 18th century. Both the cup and the saucer are hand painted with a nice scene in shades of puce including buildings, ruins and a person in a landscape surrounding. Each scene has a puce scroll design below it. The rest of the space is filled with two puce flowers and a gold garland trim. The lid also has two puce flowers to it as well as the gold garlands. The handle on the cup and lid are typical for the classical period and one of my favorite shapes. They have some puce trim to them. The set is in superb condition with just some of the usual minor firing flaws to them but no chips, restorations, etc. As good as they come! The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. The cup is 2.375 inches tall and the same in diameter. The lid is 2.5 inches in diameter and 0.625 inches in height. Both the cup and the saucer are marked with the underglaze blue W mark as shown. Lidded cups are hard to find since the lids are almost always lost! Please email me for more information or photos.
