Volkstedt Scenic Sugar Dish

This is a really nice lidded sugar pot or trinket dish made most likely by Volkstedt or possibly Wallendorf or one of the other Thuringia makers in the 18th century. The main body is nicely hand painted with a polychrome landscape scene to the front with some gilding to either side and a gold branch to the back as well as three more to the lid and a bit of gild trim. The scene includes buildings, trees, a river and lots more detail. The piece is in great condition with some minor wear to the gilding and a hard to spot star glaze crack that does not go through to the other side. The piece is not marked underneath which makes identification a little touch but it is definitely from this region and period. The pot and lid are 3.125 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter.
