Volkstedt Hunter Figurine

This is a figurine made by Volkstedt - Triebner, Ens & Eckert in the later 19th century. Volkstedt was founded in 1762 and is one of the few makers of the Thuringia region that are still around today. This figure is of a hunter holding his deer kill over his left shoulder and a large basket on his back. In the back there is a tree stump and the base has some relief scrolls to it highlighted with gilding. He is dressed with a large colorful apron. There is some fine lace to the ends of his sleeves and around his lower legs. It is in OK shape but as is almost always the case there is damage to this super fragile decoration! Otherwise the piece is in great condition and is marked with the under glaze blue mark as shown on the underside. The figure is just under 5 inches tall, 2 inches wide and 1.75 inches deep.
