Vinovo Pot de Creme

This is a very rare porcelain pot de creme cup made by Vinovo in the early 19th century. The factory was started in 1776 by Giovanni Vittorio Brodel and Pierre-Antoine Hannong near Turin, Italy. Brodel left the operation in 1778 and Hannong in 1780 after which the factory closed briefly. It reopened the same year under the management of Vittorio Amedeo Gioanetti. Their pieces are very hard to find and this is actually my first marked piece in all my years of collecting. The cup is made of hard paste porcelain and hand painted with a blue cornflower design including two larger clusters and a leaf in between them. A simple gold trim to the top edge and the handle. They must have made quite a few of these cups as that seems to be one of the pieces one can find from time to time. Often missing its lid as is the case here as well. The piece is in great condition with a touch of wear to the gold trim and off course the already mentioned missing lid. Still a nice and very rare example! It is marked underneath with the L.V. with the + mark over the V as shown. The piece is 2.25 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
