Pretzel Seller Street Vendor

This is one of the Vienna versions of the Cris de Paris type street vendors in Wien Austria instead of Paris. Here we have the pretzel seller made by Royal Vienna in the mid 18th century around 1760. He is part of an entire series but they are really hard to find and I ahve never seen this figure in white. Modelled superbly and quite typical of early Vienna figurines. He has a little trumpet in his left hand to attract the attention of the people, has a basket with a cloth on top and a couple of pretzels in it on his back and a stick holding a few pretzels on his right with a pretzel in his right hand. A couple of flowers on the base. It is really a superb figurine! The figure was left in the white to show off the nice details of this figurine and it is in good condition for the age. The tip of the pretzel stick is missing and there is some damage to the back left coat are as shown and possible a bit of damage to the top of the flowers on his hat but that is ahrd to tell plus some staining to the top of his hat. That all being said he really is in remarkable condition for the age and all those tiny fragile details! Fingers and pretzels are fine as is the trumpet, etc. The figure is 7.625 inches tall, 3.5 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep. Marked underneath with the blue beehive / shield mark as shown. Please email me for more information or photos.

Price is $999
