Vienna American Market Plate #2

This is an interesting plate made by one of the many factories copying the Royal Vienna beehive / shield mark in the 19th or early 20th century. It seems to have been made for the American market which I have not seen before. The center is hand painted with a signed scene of a two British soldiers in red coat uniforms with two ladies and their young children by them as well as two younger gentleman down below. They are standing on what looks to be a beach with some mountains to the sides, the ocean in front and a nice reddish sky. A very nice quality scene with the typical fancy gilding some of which is raised and some tiny white enamel beads or " jewels " on a cobalt blue rim. The painting is signed J. Turba or something along those lines. These types of plates are very elegant and decorative which is why they are so popular and having a scene that relates to the US is just superb and definitely not something one comes across often. The plate is in superb condition with some very very minor wear - as nice as one could hope for! The piece is 9.625 inches in diameter and 0.875 inches tall so a very nice size. It is marked with the blue shield / beehive mark underneath as well as some impressed marks as shown and the words: " Wives were torn from their husbands, and mothers, too late, saw their children left on the land, "Evangeline". Not sure who the person quoted is - probably from a book or something like that. A very nice and interesting plate! Please email me for more information or photos.
